Behind The Glass
Owners Dana and Michael Kelly worked to create a “rustic” and “elegant” atmosphere by hand crafting various wooden furniture pieces, and brought in a unique centerpiece. Easily the highlight of the space is a great saloon-style wooden bar, which was found by a family member, and dates back to the early 20th century.
Dana Kelly’s vision is to highlight Texas wines and to educate guests on the state’s successful wineries. So behind her bar are 135 wines on The Empty Glass’ menu with more than 100 by-the-glass labels. Customers can also purchase bottles sold and other wine-related items at discounted prices.
A small food menu is available and organized so even a wine novice can navigate easily for that perfect pairing. Individual meats and cheeses, sandwiches, pizza and desserts are also available. For that beer drinker, the bar also holds several bottled beers ($3) including Shiner Bock, Ziegenbock and St. Arnolds.
An outside patio space with wooden furniture and shade structure offers a relaxed environment that looks naturally aged with non-discrete flat-screen TV allowing patrons to view their favorite sporting team or latest news event. We also offer an exclusive tasting room for a private gathering and small celebrations available by reservation.
Every Saturday the bar hosts wine tastings and live music from 1-4 p.m. with no cover cost, and while wine tasting costs vary with the vendor they stay around $10. And don’t forget about our happy hour from 4-7 p.m Tuesday through Friday and all day on Sundays. Featuring $5 wine by-the-glass, it’s a great way to sample some great Texas wines.
The Empty Glass is a natural fit at the Depot Plaza and downtown Tomball. Come see us and we will not disappoint any wine enthusiast.
